Thoughts on society and The Giver
1.In what ways do we perceive memories in our society?
Although many people say that the past is not important we can see that in general our society cares a lot about memories. Trough memories we can learn with mistakes made in the past and avoid them. In addition, we can understand our own story and why things are the way they are because of all that we try to immortalize our memories by writing them in books, painting or taking pictures.
2. What you think would be different in the world if we had only one-generation memories?
I think we would repeat the same mistakes of the past because we wouldn't know how to avoid them or how to stop them. In addition to keep repeating the same mistakes we also wouldn't understand much about our history.
3. Do you have any questions about how the rules of your society or any society?
How were those rules created? Do they really work? Why certain crimes are not punished more severely? Why some rules are not changed? Basically these are my questions to the rules in our society. I also wish to understand why some rules that only benefits the more wealthy people still exist.

The best lesson my mother ever taught me
Parents are our guides during life. They are always willing to help us with good advice an loving words, and they also are our first teachers. With our mom and dad we learn the basics of life in society,in fact, many of our behavior is determinate by our parents behavior. In my case, the best lesson I learned through my mom was how to be persevering.
My mother was born in a poor family, with no many and depending on the other to get food and clothes. In addition, her family did not support her studies and use to say things like "studying all time is going to make you crazy", and "study is not important". With all theses conspiring against her was easy to predict that her future was not a bright one, but she simply didn't care about all this and decide to go on, to chase a better life, not only for her,but for her future children.
So she began to study a lot,and started to work. At first was not a good job,but with time she was able to achieve better positions and started to make more money. And today she has a great life, and it is all because she was persevering. And that is the most important lesson that she taught me.

Stretching your positive mind
Meeting new places such as the National Mall and the National Aquarium, studying in one of the best universities in the US, learning more about new cultures, learning to respect diversity, improving my English, applying for entrepreneur programs, making new friends, discovering more about myself, and eating different foods. All this are the positive things about my time here in America.
My staying here is also helping me to leave my comfort zone because I am in touch with a huge variety of people and cultures,so I have to be open to new experiences, and learn how to accept the differences between me and the other. In addition, here I don't have much worries, everything is arranged and I just have to focus on college and discover new things about myself and about the world.

Do you like to being alone?
According to Eric Klinenberg in his opinion paper One's Crowd nowadays more people are living alone than never. This seems to reflect the modern values such as freedom and individualism. In my opinion, living alone when you are young has more positive points than negative points. Privacy, freedom and self-realization are the main advantages of living alone.
Privacy is one something high valued in our society. Many people spend money just to protect their intimacy and when you live alone you have full privacy. Nobody will invade your space, cross the limits, because the whole space is for you.
In addition, you have freedom to come and go when you want, and invite who you want to come to your home. You will also have freedom to be alone to just think. Is difficult to have sometime alone just to think, usually people tend to not respect it, specially, my friends, although I respect them, because I understand the importance of this kind of moment. The freedom also does respect to time because you won't have children or family to take care, so you will have more time to socialize and go to events.
Finally, live alone is a challenge. In terms of organization and finances every day presents a new obstacle to be overcame. So when you starts to manage them have a great feeling of self realization, you start to get more mature and in the end of each month you will realize how much you growth and how many problems you solved. This brings a great feeling of accomplishment.
To sum up, living alone is great experience and adds a lot of new values and experience to our lives, and also give a lot of privacy, freedom and a feeling of self-realization are the most notorious advantages of living by yourself.

A Perfect World
Today was presented to me a simple question: "What is your idea of perfect world?". Well, it made me think a lot about what I consider as a perfect world. So I started to make a research about it,my goal was to see different opinions and studies related to the topic. After a while I realized that a perfect world is almost a consensus, what everybody describes as their idea a perfect world is, actually, a Utopia.According to Wikipedia Utopia is a society or community that posses perfect qualities.
Usually people describe their perfect world as a place as an Utopia where everything is perfect, everybody loves each other, every day is the same thing. But for me, it sounds a little boring. I mean a world without wars, without poverty, without hunger and all those bad things is a great place and I want those things. To be a perfect world those things are necessary, but we also need a little of emotion, something to fight for.

That's why in my perfect world a would let the capitalism as economic system, because one of the good things about it is the meritocracy: you gain what you deserve. The bad thing about it is the fact of just a small group of people keep the majority of the money and control everything, and this must be changed. In a perfect world we would have a better income distribution and the democracy would work the way is meant to be.
The most complicated thing would be respectful to our peers, because the main cause to conflicts is the intolerance. For this we don't have a formula or a revolutionary solution, we have to invest in better schools and universities and also start to give an example to the next generations by respecting the others believes, opinions and etc.
Another thing that should be included is an international constitution, like Human Rights, but more complete. Talking about general topics for a good life in society and each country would be able to adapt it according to their reality.
In conclusion, this is what I think that makes a perfect world: a universal system of justice, a free and great health system, no hunger, no wars, a system based on meritocracy and were everybody respects the other.
